I'm currently trying to decide what carb set-up to use on my fast road 1062 (998 +080).

Spec is 1062cc, pocketed
Lightened balanced crank
New standard 1275 head.
Maniflow exhaust.
Megajolt ignition.

Not sure what power this should be...

I've got some Twin HS2's but they need a rebuild and I've also got the original HS4. I think the HS4 is in better condition as my Mini achieved 55bhp with it on RR but only 50 with the twin's.

I suppose HIF44 or twin 1 1/2" carbs would be too much?

I was in a predicament of either using a HIF44 or twin HS2'S just like you, but thought that the 44 would be an overkill even with my spec which is similar to yours, Personally i'd rebuild the twins and see how it goes.

Only thing is a rebuild kit is like £50-£60 which I shouldn't spend :dontgetit:

I've had a look at my twin carbs today and found that the needles are GY type. They're numbers are AUD344R/L and are apparently from a Princess 1300.

The needles are the standard for 1275, should I be using different needles are I'm using it on a small bore, albeit bored out +80 with 1275 head?

Cheers

Hello,

I also have a 1062 with 12g206 head and SW5 cam. I run twin 1.25inch HS2s, I bought a new pair after a series of bad old ones, even after rebuilding them.

When I ran the std HS4 when repairing twins I got 55 bhp on the r/road, with new twin HS2s I get 65 and was more driveable.

For your info I use AAS needles.

Matt

Thanks for the advice.

Are those HP figures at the crank or the wheels? I got 55 at the fly from my Stage 1 only 998.

I don't think I can stretch to new carbs atm but am hoping to rebuild mine.
