Hi I have been offered a 1275 MG Metro engine for my mini, it is already in a mini subframe and has a stage one kit and electronic ignition fitted. How much is it worth as i dont want to be paying over the odds. I already have a 1275 fitted but it is starting to fail me.

Well how long is it since it ran and IF I were you I would check the drain plug and see what swaf has been picked up by magnet and then rub oil between thum and finger and then smell and if it smell of burnt oil then I would not buy it as there may be problems..............

The engine has only just come out of the car, i drove it and it was fine apart from a changing into 2nd has a slight crunch. I have a gearbox in the shed so i can change that if need be. It started on the button from cold with no smoke. He is a friend of a friend so he has given me first refusal but he has not mentioned how much yet. He used to get it serviced every year.
