Novice question I know, but where is the best place to firstly put jack and secondly put axle stands to jack up front of mini?

Need to change gear selector rod seal and disconnect the exhaust from the inlet manifold, to change the head gasket.

Photo's would be a bonus help.

Cheers

Underneath the subframe. At the front, i'll put the jack under one side, raise it up so its high enough to put stands under the front of the subframe. Same with the back. Remember to use chocks

The stands shouldn't be under the front of the subframe, they should be directly under the vertical member that forms the spring tower, but not on the flat section under the lower arm which will deform. That's the strongest part of the frame and where it is designed to take the load. Jacking or supporting the car by the tie rod mount often results in damage and isn't very secure.

This thread would be much better with pictures! I'm also worried that I'm jacking my Mini up in the wrong place and wouldn't mind a visual pointer in the right direction
