My Wife's 1998 MPi Automatic Mayfair sometimes acts funny when shifting into gears from a dead stop. Never has left us stranded, just an annoying quirk that happens frequently.

example: When i shift into drive, sometimes the transmission doesn't grab and start to move... if i tap the shift mechanism to the right sometimes that fixes it (only works when using reverse since there is play side to side), or shift out of D and back into it... seems to do it in all gears... Anyone have any ideas on what to check? is there a selector cable that might need adjusting? or something like this? Anyone familiar with these automatic boxes? Its almost like the selector mechanism is super close but not quite close enough to start the gears to engage.

I am by no means an expert with automatic boxes. And i know the late model auto's are unknown in the uk as well since it was a japanese spec only thing by the late models.

Any ideas and suggestion i would appreciate!

-Tim
