if they do, do they monitor speed - ie how fast you are actually going - and if this is the case, how is that information / data collected?
I need to find a way to integrate OBD2 to a non mpi engine, purely to gather info / data for:
# Vehicle Speed
# RPM
# Fuel Consumption
# Engine Coolant Temp
# Fuel Pressure
# Calculated Engine Load
# Throttle Position
# Intake Manifold Pressure
# Air Intake Temp
# Timing Advance
# Mass Air Flow
# Fuel Level
# Barometric Pressure
# EVAP System Vapor Pressure
# Fuel Trim
this is the weird bit - I dont want the ecu to actually run the engine - just monitor the above so i can create a digital dashboard of a fairly unique nature.
its a long shot but worth a go.
cheers
martin.

On the other hand a performance meter uses an accelerometer or a GPS sensor, can you perform electronic "wizardry" and couple up an accelerometer to a Laptop or some other computer type device.....

Ps. Do you know how to get the links to work..... as it appears to be a little dead ??
good stuff thankyou martin, i'll call them tomorrow to see if their kit will give me the signals i need, and just how their PC interface works. clever stuff though.
on the atatched PDF is does begin to suggest that the majority of later lucas ecu's are OBDII compliant, but I thought that meant it had to have speed signals?? to meet the requirements of OBDII compatability????

The MPi is NOT!!!! OBDII complient. It may have the same 16way socket, but it is NOT!!! OBDII.
I guess that is why Techbooks go for so much Money

So do you just want to use the ECU to moniter the outputs? and does it have to be OBDII?
