Hey all, I'm re-fitting my remote style gear linkage and its very stiff to get into any gear and I cant get reverse?
This is without the clutch being bled as I wanted to make sure I had gears before going any further.
Is there a way you line the linkage up?

Sounds silly but have you greased it? There's a grease nipple on the back of the diff housing for the vertical rod.

No I havent, i'll try that now mate

I've managed to get 1st,2nd,3rd, and 4th now but still cant get reverse?
Its is still lift and bottom right isnt it?
Its just when i try to lift the lever nothing happens.

I've fitted it so there is a washer ontop of the linkage, then the nylon bush sitting in the spring, with the little metal housing round it and then the cap ontop and tightened the bolts up as far as they will go. Is this correct?
Cheers, Lee.

Do the Remote gearboxes have a lift for reverse? I'm not entirely sure myself.

To select reverse on a remote ( and magic wand ) it's just a move to the right and down, however, it has a detent plunger and spring so it's more of a pop over to the right, you should feel it...

If you still can't select reverse, remove the nut on the front of the gearbox (like a sump plug) and then try you detent may just be stuck

I am having a similar prob after puttong a brand new remote type box in I couldn't seem to get the all the gears (only got 3rd and neutral), but after bleeding the clutch a couple of times I can get all the gears but it still a bit of a fight.

Not driven the car yet but does anyone know if this is a common thing after changing a remote box, that its stiff before you drive it?

I've just replaced my clapped out magic wand box with a remote box (NOS) and it is stiff but slowly loosening up. I did forget about the grease nipple as well and haven't done anything about it as it looks a right pain to get at!
