Ive tried mini bonnet hinges and to be honest they dont seem to be the greatest idea, i will put some pics up shortly of the only picture i have found, that i would like them to look like.

And they don’t look as flimsy as bonnet hinges, probably not a problem with a later single skin or fiberglass boot lid, but as I was planning on doing this with an original double skinned (bloody heavy) mk1 boot I went off the idea.

we're looking into this for the new project car.

beetle bonnet hinges look promising. to position them up and weld in place we'll use a sacrificial boot lid - cut a big hole in the centre of it so you can reach in and weld stuff in place :D

PS - we want a big throw on the boot openeing for other sillyness we are doing - but the gas strut thing works well with these hinges. :dozing:

Have a look at Camp Freddy's project thread (called 'The Rat') - somewhere in the 80-odd pages are pics of the ones he made!
