Hi, i was just wondering how important is the parcel shelf to the minis structure as im going to put new speakers in it and just wanted to know if its ok to cut two cup size holes out of it. Dan

mines had 2 6x9 holes cut in it so it should be fine

Later Minis had speaker holes as standard, so you should be fine. The panel IS structural and shouldn't be removed but speaker holes are fine,

You could always add strenth to it by cutting 2 peices of MDF or PLY and put 1 peice on the top and 1 peice under (in the boot) and bolt all 3 peices together....
This will sandwich the metal parcel shelf and it will be a lot stronger + you will get LESS distortion.....

I cut my parcel shelf out save for a 1'' lip around the edge, and I was amazed to find that the bulkhead remained TOTALLY solid, I expected it to flex a bit, but I was shocked to find it didn't flex one bit!
I've replaced the old gash shelf (full of previous speaker holes) with a nice alloy shelf bolted into place with 10 bolts around the edge

CHEERS GUYS, after looking at the parcel sehlf and removing the old speakers im going to put a ew shelf in, so ill get this done tomorrow. thanks for all the help
