Hi there, i have a 998cc mini and am sure it has a stage one induction kit from mini sport in it, i think this due to the alloy inlet manfold having mini sport printed on the top lol.
I am looking to gain a bit more power from adding some new parts to my 998cc. and i am sorry for my complete lack of knowledge but will 45 dcoe webber carbs (twin) show a noticable increase in power?
and how difficult are they to fit?
Thanks, James

Easy to fit, but i think a 45 would drown a 998. Im running a 40 DCOE on my stage 1 998, and its spot on. I think a 45 would only be necessary when you were at full revs 90% of the time, on a flat out highly tuned track car.

I'm not sure why this is in the forced induction section, but anyway. A 45 Weber will be a total waste of time on an almost stock 998. The standard 1 1/2" SU isn't a restriction until around 60hp or so. If you've got a stage one kit fitted then the next modifications are a decent cylinder head & a cam change.

The old 998 Cooper head {12G295} together with a 256 cam will give a decent power increase with your stage one kit & be a great 998 for the road.

is it possible to fit the head without the cam? sorry for my lack of knowledge haha, i'm only 16 and know pretty much nothing about engines.
and would the head just be a straight swap for the standard one i have the now?
Thanks

The one you linked to wont be a straight swap though, as the combustion chamber CC's are about 28 IIRC on the cooper head (as it is still the original thickness), which will result in a very low compression ratio. Fine if you are running a turbo etc. but will need to be skimmed to give the correct CR for your engine, which can be worked out using a bit of maths.

I think the first head looks like a 12G202 from what i can see, which has smaller valve sizes, but im not 100% sure on the CC size on that.

so is there any head that would be a simple straight swap for my standard onethat would give me some sort of extra power ?

The 295 is your best option. Find one already skimmed to give the correct compression ratio, or buy one & get it skimmed.
