Studio 2 998cc
1991:
I have recenty bought a 1991 Mini Studio 2 998cc but i'm a bit confused as to who made it, Rover or Austin?
My boyfriend seems to think that it is an Austin but other things suggest that it is a Rover, such as the year, I also found this:
Mini Studio 2 Special Edition Brochure

But i have seen people with Austin's so im a little confused :S
The car is registered as a Rover but it was found at a scrap yard 2 years ago so i dont trust that info completly
Any light on the matter would be appreciated
=)

In 1991 Austin no longer existed as a company, Rover was the new Austin and they where owned by BAe Systems...... :shifty:

Look at this page http://www.roblightb.....studio2 6.jpg

Exterior - Colours available, Nordic Blue, Storm Grey, Black.

I've seen grey and blue ones, but not black.

Yes by 1991 the company was called Rover Cars and was owned by British Aerospace (not BAe Sytems at that time). This was before it was sold and became Rover Cars Limited, then was sold again to BMW and became MG Rover Cars Limited. Or something like that. It all got very confusing. The company was called Austin Rover in the '80s, which was the left overs of the car division of British Leyland who had gone bust at the end of the '70s.

(#1) ....at that time all the minis were all made on the same line by the same people, it's just the company name that changed, loads of times.

during these changes you will often get information that gets mixed up and at the end of the day.... it doesn't really mater because.... (go to #1 and repeat)

but yes, 1991 = rover
