Description of problem

Looks like the remains of radiator seal stuff... horrid stuff.

If I was you i'd flush the whole system with 50/50 white vinegar and distilled water - bring car upto temp then drain and flush with clean water.

Check if the thermostat works it's not called a waxstat for nothing.

yeah i soaked the rad in boiling water and vinegar for a couple of hours.. and it seams to have clear most of it.

also replace the stat with a new one, so im hoping the rad is saveable.. ?

Looks like the stat has disintegrated.. the wax has come from inside the stat itself, that's how it works. When the coolant heats up, the wax expands which is what makes the thermostat open.
