hi guys. ive never seen anyone try or talk about doing this type of conversion and i fancy havin ago at it.

has anyone thought about it and come across any major difficulties? can anybody think of anythin that will stop me doin it? im pretty sure i could get it under the clubman front end.

but any input befor i get serious about this would be helpful

in my opinion i wouldnt see the point either go for a VTS instead of VTR (VTR=90bhp VTS=130bhp) or do a vtec conversion the 1.6 vtec (150-160bhp) but if it something differant you are wanting i would do VTS personally i wouldnt know any mechanical problems and i was under the hood of a VTS today and it isnt a huge engine so clubman should do fine might even fit in a round nose

hope i helped

I agree you're better off with the vts but if I was gonna have anything other than A series it would be a honda v-tech

ive got a mini running the smaller TU engine, 1360cc alloy jobbie, its out of an ax gt but was fitted to pugeot 205 xs and i think early 106xsi.
i think the biggest problem will be the inlet manifold clearance with the bulkhead/mastercylinders. mines got a carb and only just clears after a bit of modifying

thanks for the interest, i will get some pics up when photo bucket lets me lol >_<

theres quite alot of welding to be done rear quaters and wheel arches front floor pan and front right flitch panel. altho i need dad to do the weldin because im crap at it lol.

hopefully itll all be welded and road worthy for santa pod, because id like to do the drag strip. i have no dout the engine will be in and running so long as i can get a custom exhaust made. and i think the only bit i will have to chop is at the front where the exhaust manifold will come down and maybe abit at the back for the gear linkage but wont know for sure till wed when ive had a good look with the engine next to me.

and today i built a canopy over my drive so i can work in the rain and now im goin to the pub lol

not a chance the vtS / 106 gti will fit with the std manifold.
big shame tho as its a cracking engine.
our vts (rip drunk driver killed it) had 96k on the clock and pulled 135 on timing gear at bruntingthorpe and was std.
