Hello all,

I have done searches on this subject but didnt find anything of much use. I want to convert my existing 13" wheels to 10s. The front brakes are standard disks. I know that 10s won't fit straight on to my discs but i REALLY cant afford to buy the conversion kits. So.......

Can i machine my discs down, or will this compromise the structural integrity?
What sort of price are te fiesta mk2 callipers?
Can i just leave the front brakes as are and put spacers on?
And lastly, are there any other options availible?

Cheers

Tom

have a look through the faq, there is a way of fitting 10" wellas with a massive big spacer and grinding the calliper down a bit. Not particularly popular though. Not sure if you could machine discs, I would have thought so. And Fiesta brakes are not that much if you find some, A set on weebay went for £35 a while ago.

;)

Ok will have a look for the fiesta brakes. Do you know if you can use spacers for any other 10x6 wheels like revos or minilight style wheels? Not a fan of wellers.
What would you hae to grind off the caliper?

Cheers

We machine discs from 8.4" to 7.9" to fit 10" wheels, we also manufacture the biggest brake kit for Classic Mini at a massive 285mm (11.2") for 13" wheels .........

piccy below >_<

haha thats quite impressive. Apart from the disc and caliper size, is there anything else that needs changing in order to fit 10" wheels?

Cheers

Sorry to hi-jack threat, but might help you when converting to 10".

What happens with the rear drums?

Do the normal drums fit ok under 10" or do new drum set up have to be fitted on the rear radius arms?

Advise on this would be great.

Cheers,

Good luck with converting to 10", its the way forward!

No need for a new drum setup..u can fit teenies on drums with a built in 3mm spacer, or use either later drums and with extra spacers fitted, with no radius arm issues..there so many options depending on which wheels and arches u're gonna fit.

rear drums will fit all size wheels - the ones with spacers or the MiniFin type would be beneficial if you are converting the front from drums to discs as they make the footprint wider!

I want to fit 6x10 revos or minilights. Then i'll sort out the arches once i know how far the wheels stick out.

sorry also should have said there is one set of 10's that fit, they look like Cooper S steels but in alloy, and are made with a massive big spacer to clear the brakes. But I think they cost more than the sensible option of swapping to 7.5's/7.9's!

The cooper lookalike with massive offset are not so pricey, and cheaper than converting discs..the problem is finding them, are supplied by minispeed and out of stock currently.

Save up & go for the conversion kit >_<
All you need to change over to 10s is 7.5" or 7.9" Calipers & disks.
Arches group 2's or above for 10x6 also the front arch will need to be cut to allow the wheel to turn
...
Also you may need to take your suspension into mind, since doing the conversion i have had to fit adjustable suspension & hi-lows to stop the wheels rubbing on the arches. i also cannot take rear passengers :S
