Im currently refurbing my 5x12 supalites and have polished the dish back up and is looking good but I now need to laquer it, ive tried it once and the laquer has run, is it because theres no key to take the laquer?? How can I get the shine of a polished rim and laquer them??
Thanks guys.

i wouldn't worry too much to be honest dude, just keep the polished rims clean and waxed and they should stay fine for ages.
very very light dustcoat(s) to start with, build it up very slowly.

Even 'self etching' laquer that is made specifically for this purpose does not take well.
Dont bother, just autosol them and wax to keep them protected.

These are the wheels that were done but cant seem to find any after pics but the finish was nowhere near as good afterwards.

For a proper mirror polished finish, autosol is miles to harsh and will dull and leave scratches after just one application. You should use something like Belglom alu for normal use and for slightly heavier tarnishing use meguires metal polysh. They should be washed as regularly as possible and waxed with a good protector such as rimwax or similar after each wash.

How do they laquer them in the factory, I take it they dip them in baths??
Most are done with a clear powder coat type lacquer. The polished finish you see on most wheels is diamond cut,it is fairly rough and the coating can stick to it pretty well.
