i dont know what kind of carb i have because i need to sort my mixture out and ive been told its not a standard mini version so can anyone help?

looks like a HIF

you will have to measure the mouth to know what size

You screw it clockwise to weaken the mixture and anti-clockwise to richen it. As a rough guide set the tickover to 1000rpms and then adjust the mixture screw only until the highest tickover is achieved.

I've just wasted half an hour of my life looking through the search function for that very info!

Sorry that's wrong.

Clockwise enriches, anti-clockwise to weaken.


Also check you ignition timing before even touching the mixture.

Timing effects mixture, so after you've if set the timing the mixture will need optimizing.

What he said.

Its very unusual for you to have to adjust the fuel mixture once its been set. The great advantage with a SU carburettor is they never really need to be adjusted once there set up.

So the chances are, if your mini has suddenly started to run strangely, then its more than likely to be something to do with a fault in your ignition.
