Hi

I'm looking for a mobile welder or someone who can weld to a good standard that could sort out the work on my Mini. I have my own Mig welder if required and I have a garage to do the work in. I'm quite handy fabricating stuff myself and my basic welding is ok but I really don't want to make a mess of the shell, so I would rather pay someone who knows what they are doing to sort it out.

I will be getting a couple of quotes from bodyshops to do the work but plan b is to get someone to come to my house and do the work, so I need recommendations for a good welder that would be willing to do the work.

The list of work includes;

Floor replacements/patching
Door steps
A-panels
Air vent blanking off
Rear quarter patching
+ few other patches/repairs

Generally the shell is in good condition but I want it to be as rust free as possible before spending a lot of cash on a respray. I have almost stripped it down to a bare shell and I have removed a lot of the rust already. All that really remains is the welding.

I am located in Lingwood, which is about 10 miles from Norwich when heading towards G.Yarmouth.

Thanks

Luke.

Hi Mate
Sorry to side track a little here, what i did, and what i recommend is to practice loads & loads and go on a welding course. The course will give you so much more confidence in welding than you suggest having now. To get a mobile welder in is OK, but it gives you no flexibility to do minor welding jobs when you havn't planned for them during repairs to your mini.

But if you need a good welder, I found this guy good in the past before I decided to do my own welding:

Hi

Thanks for the suggestion I will give him a try.

As for the welding course, I have already been on a course and I have practiced quite a lot. I'm ok with repairs and fabrication but I really don't fancy welding floor panels and door steps into place, which in my opinion need to be spot on. I'm also quite impatient and don't want to wait to learn how to weld to a high enough standard before getting on with my project.

Thanks again for the link.

Luke.

Hi

Thank you for the offer, I might just take you up on it and obviously I would arrange a fee with you for your services. Timescale wise I have no particular urgency and I appreciate you wanting to finish your car first. I've just looked at your project thread and it would appear that you've done some good work there!

Luke.
