hi
i am trying to sort out the cluch on my new project i am fitting an A+ 1275 engine. The leaver on the end of the engine which links to the clutch cylinder seams too long. On my other A+ 1275 car it is 60mm centre to centre and on my new engine it is 90mm. what do i do as it is hitting my new cylinder do i need another type of cylinder or do i change the lever for a shorter one.(the cylinders mounting plates etc are the same on both my cars so only the lever lenght is different)
any ideas?
cheers

Can you show us a piture? Is the new engine from a Metro? It may be that it has the Metro cable actuated clutch arm fitted.

There is only one that about 90mm centre to centre and as Dan says it is a cable type. It will also have rubber bush in the end.... instead of only being made of steel.

Yea that's the cable type. You can swap it for your hydraulic arm that you say you have on the other engine.

well you can change the arm for a shorter hydraulic arm, check all the bits especially inside the plunger where the ball end fits... it should be a straight through hole with a chamfer if worn change as it will restrict your clutch movement...

To be honest if I were you I'd buy a new Verto release arm and new clevis pins. They do wear and old ones really badly affect the adjustment of the clutch, this is when people think then need to extend the push rod. They're easy to change, they're only held by clevis pins and they don't cost much.
