Mini Cooper 1998

I'm trying to replace the tear shaped front subframe rubber bush, which has deteriorated and needs to be changed to pass the MOT. At first glance this looked like a straight forward job, undo a couple of nuts and put in the new bush, but I just can't get to the top nut to undo it and i think i must be doing something wrong.

I'm working in a pit so I'm trying to get to the nut from under the car, should I try accessing it from another angle?? do i need to remove something to get to the nut, do i need some specialist tools or is this a case of persistence and ET fingers???

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Hazel

I guess you mean the top bolt? this goes into a captive nut into the fron panel. It is abit tricky to get too but i always remove the grille and attact it from the top :)

i would replace it for a solid one

they always seem to go and you won't notice any move noise by going for a solid mount

If you replace the teardrops for solid mounts, invariably it puta too much stress and strain on the wings to scuttle and A panel area causing cracking :) ....

It may be that you drive it a bit carefully then :)

Or you have an exception to the recognised rule...........
