Ive searched and cant find anyone whos done it.

Can anyone think of a reason why this wouldnt work or would be complicated? It seems like decent power from a small engine, which has been relatively reliable for my mate.

However my mate just span his 106 rallye and i can get the engine off him cheap as.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

The Metro used a 1.5 XU Peugeotdiesel engine, which pretty much use the petrol TU Peugeot engine mounts, so theoretically, the Metro K series subframe you can get for a mini might be able to be modified to take the TU/XU engine mounts, so might be a pretty straight forward conversion?

Even still, the 106 engine is a tiny engine, it would easily fit under the mini front, and if it doesn't, make a bonnet buldge or get a v-tec extended round nose to make the engine bay longer.
Would be interesting to see what it would turn out like :)

Im not really wanting to have to extend the front to be honest. Having a look at the engine it does look like it would be ok. However, my eyesight isnt the best and therefore might be totally wrong.

I am very tempted though.

People have managed to fit wopping great 2 litre red tops in the front of a standard mini. So what you need to do is take the back of the mini subframe, then build round the engine to support the engine mounts, whilst retaining the original suspension. I got a pic that might aid my description, it was a subframe for a v-tec.
Hope this helps,
Max

Thats a big help. It makes more sense to build around it, atleast then it will fit.

Cheers Max
