Iv'e never seen that on the weather forecasts before.................
Toady's weather..... it will be patchy spots with a little light rain ......
Spots are for driving, ie. long range or wide angle for cornering.... none of these should be on a simple switch and must by law only be capable of being turned on whilst main beam is on.
Fogs are for foggy (not rain as some people believe) and should be positioned low down on your car to cut under the fog

Fogs have a low angle, steeply dipped and wide beam pattern that paints the road immediately in front of the car with light. As Martin says driving lamps can be either spot or flood pattern but there is no legal beam pattern, they are just very bright. Your main beam headlamps would provide the same sort of light as a driving lamp if they didn't have the disadvantage of having to provide the dipped beam pattern too.

the glass on the fogs and spots are different! the spots make a high powered beam, that lights up the road a fair way infront of you, the fogs on the other hand, send the light a lot lower, so that you can see all of the road immediatly infront of you when driving in the fog! they send the light low so that when you are driving in the fog, it doesnt reflect back of the fog dazzeling you, meaning you see nothing and crash into something infront of you!
