hiya
is it possible to fit a 1100 crank to a 998 engine with 998 pistons??
i heard that the 1100 pistons need to be used??
would it be possible to machine the tops of the 998 pistons so that they fit???
cheers

you'd need to take of nearly 4mm to make them fit. My guess is that this will leave the distance from the top of the piston to the first ring too small.
Pistons are cheap, so why not just buy new ones?

I honestly think you'll find you have machined right through the crown if you do this. Or left the crown dangerously thin at least. As said above it's nearly 4mm that you'd have to remove.

ahh ok, i was just wondering. wont be doing that then lol
i did mean new pistons for the machining, as i will be getting +80 or +120 pistons for my new engine
many thanks

what do think would give a better fast road engine??
+120 pistons with a lightly worked 998 crank
or
+60 pistons with a lightly worked 1100 crank??
the second option would give greater cylinder volume and torque would it not??
cheers
