Hello Just brought new wiper blades and wiper arms - was wondering how I remove the existing arms and how to fit the new ones!

Thanks!

The arms are pressed onto a spline. If you look under the arm boss you will see a small clip that stops the arm slipping upwards. Hold the clip back with something and work the arm off the spline, once the clip is past the end of the spline teeth you can release it. The arm will probably be held in place with corrosion and gunge but once you get it moving it'll come off easily. You might be lucky and find that they've never been pushed on far enough to engage the clip anyway.

Hello, thanks for the explanation - found the clip I've pushed it back with a screwdriver and I tried getting the wiper arms off, but it doesn't seem to come off - I seems well secured in place! any other tips?

Pull the clip in the direction of the arm, don't push it. Other than that, just wiggle the arms about to free up the corrosion and gunge. If they are very stuck spray them with penetrating oil and leave them over night. They'll come off eventually. Put copper grease on the splines before you fit the new arms to stop them sitcking too badly.

Wiper blades just pull of the end of the arms, unless they are the stainless tex variety then you just pull the clip back

ok - I got one off! the other one is well and truly stuck - I think the little clip is loose and it still wont Budge!!!!! I've had WD40 on it for a few hours , but it still hasn't helped - it's so annoying - i thought this would be really straightforward!
