Morning/evening Whatty. nice looking Mini you have there and welcome (officially) to TMF.
What plan have you for the car?
Welcome to TMF
That is a fantastic looking Mk2 !!
Thanks guys - I'm such an attention *woman of ill repute*
I bought the car last year from a bloke who restored it for his wife , I'd actually gone to look at a Porsche 911 he was selling and rather impetously came home with the Mini as the prospect of maintaining a Porker was beginning to daunt me - I'm not that technically minded but I was itching to get my hands dirty. In the end it I decided that I'd rather have a really good Mini than a ticking time bomb of a Porsche......
The Mini didn't really need that much doing to it. Body wise it had had a bare metal resto' and respray and while I'm not totally sold on the colour (the PO painted it to match his Bugeye Sprite, the guy was a bit of a petrolhead) the standard of restoration was pretty good. It was done in 2000 and the car has subsequently never been driven in the wet and always kept in a climate controlled garage.
Here's a pic of how the car was when I first saw it. The PO had a nice garage set up, lift ramp and rather a lot of tasty Snap On gear - makes my 150pce tool kit look a bit Fisher Price to be honest.

4 downloads First thing I did was to get rid of the Union Jack roof decal as it was a bit too Austin Powers for my taste and it clashed with the yellow. Half an hour with a hair drier - job done. Chucked a bit of rubber trim twixt the body and the arches and she looked much better.
The engine was also rebuilt 998 + 20 thou, new pistons, nitrided crank, Pertronix ignition, Densu starter motor and electrics changed to alternator, negative polarity etc. Converted to dry suspension with a new rear subframe, shocks and Hi-Lo's.
I'm planning to fit a Stage 1 kit in a bid to pep things up a bit as she gets a bit wheezy over 55mph. That said she doesn't leak a drop of oil or coolant.
She holds great oil pressure at 50psi and I run 93RON with a leaded additive
