Please give your topic a title that quickly describes your problem. Just putting 'Help my Mini doesn't work' is useless to anyone trying to help.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Model:Clubman
Year:1967
Description of problem:I striped my manufault in two and put a branch on as the exhaust always leaked at the manufault now i have a branch on and the top part of the manufault for the carb. be fore i did this i had a problem with the car if you drive it and you put your foot down the car has a falt spot then goes if you drive it at a constant speed it jerks then smooths out then starts jerking again. If you floor the car and keep it above 3000 rpm then it drives okay with small jerks in between i turned the mixture of the car all the way down and all the way up no difference in the performance only fuel consumption. Is this a carb problem or a timing problem?
Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?
Always sort the ignition first. Start with the points and condenser.
Ignition faults tend to be related to engine revs - fuel to engine load (throttle position).
Ignition is fine and point gaps are fine the engine was rebuild from the bottom till the top but there is no mini experts in South Africa that knows how to set the timing and mixture correctly it is all done with there ears " to much hair in them " that is why it does not run right they never use any gauges like timing lite or fuel mixture sensors and this is my first engine rebuild so don't always under stand me heins manual
That's pretty much how it was done back in '67 :D
Post up what info you have on the engine & I'll see what figures I can find for it.
If an engine developed those faults my first thought would be the points and condenser but it could also be: wear or sticking of the dizzy vacuum and centrifugal advance, the carburettor damper being loose or lacking oil, the float valve or dirt in the carb generally.
