Hi all,

The barrel from the lock of the driver's door has come out with my key a few days ago. My local garage is telling me that I'd need to replace the lock, it is broken.

Now I amust admit I am not too familiar with replacing locks on a Mini...

Could you help me out with the following

Do you know what replacement parts I need by any chance? I can still lock the door from the inside and the "button" I press when opening the door works ok, it's just that the barrel is loose and I can't connect it anymore to the locking meachnism of the door handle.

Could you also roughly describe what I need to do?

It's an L reg Mini Sprite...

Many thanks, much appreciated!

Cheers,

Stevo

It's been ages since I touched on but I'm sure the barrel comes out to the key side and is just held in with a screw or star washer. Have a close look at where the barrel & where it fits to see if there's any wear, whether you need a complete handle will depend on what's worn. When you remove the key the levers should spring out and hold the barrel in anyway

You might just need to replace the star washer? So the barrel stays in place?

My barrels come out quite a bit cant you just put it back in that what I do and as long as the key is in the barrel as I do it then it works fine.

Just take the door panel off and knock the star washer tighter in place.

Also lubricate the lock mechanism so the key doesn't catch and pull the barrel out.

Thanks for that I'll do that this weekend.
