Hi there going to have a look at a completly standard 1984 mini mayfair and just to ask a few questions really!!

Its a 998 but does it have the three clock dash?
Is it disks or drums on the front?

Im normally quite good with minis but just asking because the guy selling it doent know? Thank you in advance

Mayfairs where the up market model, so should come with a 3 clock binacle. If it has offset clocks, might have centre speedo but not sure what year they ended them.

Would of thought it has drums on front, dont think disks came in until the mid 80's.

Paul.

Hang on, 1984 was the crossover year, I had a 'B' plate Mayfair on 10" steels with drum brakes, all original!

You won't know for sure until you get there.

I used to have an A reg 1984 mayfair, it had 10 inch exacton alloys as fitted to 1100 special, drum brakes all round, 2 clock dash and a webasto sunroof. I think the change to 12 inch wheels and disc brakes was in october 1984.

That's correct, although the Mini Mayfair didn't get the tachometer (& 3 clocks) until after October 1985. At the same time the Mini City E lost it's classic Smiths Instruments Cyclops centre speedo and got the twin instrument pack instead.

Although it was the Mini 25 LE that got the 12" wheels and 8.4" discs (as previously fitted to the Mini 1275GT from 1974) fitted before the City E and Mayfair got them. Some Mini 25's were even registered on an 'A' plate: -

According tothe information that Taffy has provided, and the inforamtion that you have give id say it will most likely have 3 clocks off set and 12" wheels and disc breaks  good luck bet you are like a kid at christmas :dontgetit:
