How to wire up a Sony CDX-R3300 CD Player?

I have been given a Sony CDX-R3300 CD/MP3 Player
I have tried to install this into my Mini Equinox 1996 SPI but am having no joy
The installation guide gives 3 possible wiring methods (see pics) I have tried all 3 to no avail.
The guide says to use the reset button each time I change wiring method (done).
Have I blown a fuse somewhere? Because I plugged in the old Rover tape/cassette player and this no longer works (only got an error message from it before hence the change but it at least it showed me power was getting to it)
The original Rover speakers are still in the car but not wired up at the moment, so could this be the problem?
Where do I find the fuse box for this Mini?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Fusebox should be to the right of the brake servo on the bulkhead.

First thing you want to get's a voltmeter, they are SO helpful when doing jobs like that and they're cheap enough. The wiring's dead simple once you've figured out where it all goes, even ive managed to successfully wire up my stereo and horns so you shouldnt have a problem, just check the connections on the ISO connector and make sure you have a good earth basically...
