Hi All,

Just wanted to say Hi! We won an auction for an '88 Mary Quant tonight and are soooo excited about picking it up tomorrow. This will be wife (44) fifth mini and My (23) first! Hope she is as beautiful as the pics!

Really looking forward to collecting her, and hopefully doing the bits and bobs which she needs to get her back to her old self.

Anybody got any first time tips for a new mini driver!

PS: Insurance £103 for a 23 y/o - im in heaven!

Peace Love & Goldfish,
Sam and Kim

wow!

We picked her 'Mary' up today and she is great! The brakes are a little less than I am used to so its going to take some time to get adjusted methinks.

Does anybody have any reccomendations for a cheap first upgrade to the brakes. I noticed it is discs on the front and drum rears.

The brakes should be fine just service them with original parts. It could just be Mary has got you driving more enthusiastically already :D

Yay! :D

The brakes should be fine with a good adjustment and maybe an overhaul .. check that the pads and disks still have enough life in them! If not - Minispares will be able to sort you out with some!

Welcome to the Mini world! :)

(Where are the pictures?! :P)

Still raining over here so a bit of a miserable day.

The sun is shining now a little though (hail 5 mins ago) so I shall take some pics.

Im used to driving a 2.5 V6 GT with ABS, so having to think about braking 100 yards before a junction is a little new to me. When the weathers nicer I shall check all the fluids and make sure there is life in the pads.

Right out to take some piccies.

Second to last owner put a vinyl Mary Quant logo on the roof. Undecided as to wether or not it will be staying.

Here it is.

It looks nice as it is in black and chrome vinyl. Ive actually got a vinyl printer/cutter - so if i do remove it at least I can redo it when I change my mind.
