They should only be used to recover a vehicle a short distance, in event of breakdown and such or moving from vehicle out of danger. Which suggests the vehicle been towed by the A-frame is insured, taxed and MOT'd.
I have one and have used it to move non tax/mot cars, although ive had no trouble with the police and VOSA, I do this at my own risk and take the consquences that come with this. I
make sure the vehicle displays a trailer lighting board, the towing cars registration and ON TOW signs. The trailer board is also fitted with the reflective triangles.
Is there no other way of moving the vehicle? Car trailer and suitable towing vehicle/driver?

I used to know a guy who knowingly bought a car with a head gasket gone, he took the train 200+ miles to the car. He had the owner help him move it round the corner from his house & rang the AA, claiming it had just gone. They turned up & dutifully flatbedded it back to is home, saved him an absolute fortune.

I did this too, worked a treat! Had to think up a whole story though, as I knew the AA man would question why the car was stone cold. I told him I was a mechanic, and that the car had broken down the previous evening, and I'd gotten a lift back to pick it up thinking it was a flat battery, only to find the HG had gone.
I told him my story, and he didn't even lift the bonnet in the end. Towed the car about 50 miles home for me

I have a car transporter trailer, and could possibly move it for you , need to get some straps though. When do you need it moved?
not sure when yet, but thanks for the offer, might have to take you up on it if i get stuck

have been told by a trailer hire place that it is legal to tow with a dolly as long as the vehicle being towed is braked.
How are you going to make the mini braked then?
A dolly is different to a A-frame which is mentioned in your topic title.
A dolly is a device which you place the front two wheels of the car into and it lifts them off the ground. You can get these braked and unbraked. If towing a mini, watch the exhaust tailpipe for hitting the floor!

Ah, happy days. I once bought a kit car in Dorset and the kind AA man trailered it all the way to Surrey.THIS IS NOT A SUGGESTION.

Don't forget that if any of the Mini wheels are on the road the car still needs tax, MOT & insurance.A dolly is a device which you place the front two wheels of the car into and it lifts them off the ground. You can get these braked and unbraked.

THIS IS NOT A SUGGESTION EITHER.
I used to know a guy who knowingly went into Tesco and managed to sneak some bottles of Jack Daniel's into his pocket and didn't pay for them. He dutifully went home and put them in his cupboard, saved him an absolute fortune.
I don't understand how people can imply that it is fine to behave like this, when there are so many people on this forum moaning about having their petrol syphoned or dust caps pinched.
