hi I took my race engine to the builders last night its an 1098 pocketed block with a 12g940 head with 1.5 rollers and a standard 998 camshaft.
and after I had convince him that this was the engine I have been doing so well with. he told me that I would get better performance using a std 1275 camshaft then the std 998 camshaft. (I built my engine on a very tight budget and do it for fun).
does anyone know or have had experience or the duration figure for both camshaft

The Vizard book lists the entire specs for both cams.

Is it a matter of you already owning a 1275 cam or being restricted by rules to a stock cam?

If neither of these is true, you can do much better by using a cam other than the stock 1275 cam.

Even the 997 Cooper cam is better. So is the MG Metro cam. The Swiftune SW5 is also very good in milder motors.

hi mini7boy the camshaft that i am using at the moment has two rings machine into it and i am lead to beleve that it is a std stock 998 camshaft.
i race for a bit of fun, and dont have deep pockets. and have been offer (free) and std 1275 cam. which i have been told would give me better proformence. i alway seem to have someone on the track to have fun with but if i can get a little more grunt for free. sound good to me.
