This is my daily driver

Posted Image

Im doing this one up whilst being used as a daily driver so will be a long term project when time and my Sprint allow.
Its going to look pretty standard in Speedwell blue, standard red interior, new chromework etc, not sure about wheels yet, either standard or reverse rims probably.
Under the bonnet with be a small bore turbo, I have the core engine in the garage to make a start on whilst still running the 997 Cooper motor in the car for now.
Its going to incorporate all of my lightweight components that I manufacture, I made a start on these yesterday.

Nice! The car looks in very good order for a MK1!

Your parts are nice too, superb craftsmanship.... To answer Stardude, i'm going to guess at....

1) Switch Panel
2) Radius Arm Shrouds
3) Hmmmm... Tough one. Some sort of Brake Pipe Bracket?

Do you sell the parts you make Paul?

It needs the usual, front end, sills and bits n bobs. Its all been welded up before, just not to my liking. I dont like to be able to see the repairs.

Those parts are the switch panel (for ignition barrel, lights and wipers etc) in the first pic, the rear trailing arm grease nipple covers (that only MK1s have) and the bracket in the last pic is for the screen wash pump thats next to the steering column in MK1s

Yes I do, this is going to be a demo car for my company to show my level of car repair and component manufacture

Very nice. Fantastic Work.

I'm right in saying that Alu doesn't rot, it corrodes?

If the whole car was produced in Alu, would is survive longer and be easier maintained?

Aluminium is more resistant to corrosion than steel but it still can rot away eventually
