I'm not sure yet, wiring is almost out...along with oter little things like the wiper motor, dizzy, alternator etc...

Am trying to source a hoist so we can take what's left, out, and then wire brush it and paint, then organise a weekend to do it...will probably be finished after Beaulieu now :)

On that note, I found my memory stick, so I will add photos later :P

Cool, looks like you have a great project going. I always forget to take pictures when i' doing anything, or remember half way through the job >_<

I have a hoist you could borrow, but I think your quite far away from Brighton aren't you?

Thanks Major :) I can't wait to get it all fitted :w00t: a 998cc just isn't loud enough ;)

Many thanks for the offer for the hoist, but I'm closer to Blandford and Bournemouth >_< Apparently there's a hoist I might be able to borrow from someone in one of the Mini Clubs I'm joined to. Thanks for the offer though, it's hard to come by the word 'borrow' lately :-

Hello again Major :)

Not at the moment, still hunting about for a hoist :D Am also hoping to get a few new engine parts at Beaulieu next weekend

At the moment, my shopping list for the 1275cc engine is: -

1 new carb
Air filter (s) K&N's hopefully, planning on either 2 small cones or a pancake
Top end set
Oil
New hoses
New rad cap

And a few other little bits.

Oh and the attention from Dorothy has somewhat decreased for the moment, as my dad bought another Mini yesterday and he's been trying to organise a trailer for it  Hope to start a project thread for that too! :(

Hello

Just a little update...

As I said, I went to Beaulieu with a shopping list on Sunday...however last Thursday, Henny's fuel pump gave up the ghost, so had to take Dorothy's off and fit it to Henny, meaning I had to take the twin carbs off. My dad and I weren't very sure where the right hand side carb was leaking from, however when I took it off, I found a ruddy big hole in the side of float chamber! :) It had been patched up with tape which was deteriorating badly, and it look like it's been caught with an angle grinder! ;) I'll add a photo later...

Anyway, so it meant that I didn't need a new carb after all! ;) I had a spare float chamber amongst my spares, so fitted it straight away as it was leaking :o So I went to Beaulieu with the hope of getting: -

A new rad cap
1 pancake K&N Filter or 2 K&N cones
Top end set
Couple of new hoses

Along with a few bits for Henrietta....

From the autojumble, I got...

2 inline fuel filters
1 high pressure rad cap
1 towing eye
1 Austin boot badge
Couple of new hoses for the carbs

Am still on the lookout for an engine hoist so we can get the 1275 out of Dorothy and start cleaning it, checking hoses etc, and seals, then painting...More to come soon :)

Hey again :)

Lol at the bit of tape on the float bowl, it never ceases to amaze me the quality of some of the bodges people do to our poor little minis :) Good for you though that you didn't have to get new carbs ;)

:o at not having found an engine hoist, I know drapper sell them quite cheaply(£100 ish), but if your only going to use it once its not really worth it. Have you looked into hiring one from a tool hire company?

Atleast your moving forwards with your projects, I seem to take one step forward, two steps back atm

Anymore info on your Dad's mini?

P.s Don't forget the pics, i need motivation ;)

EDIT: Just found this after a quick search for engine hoists in Blandford Engine hoist for hire

 Seems like you're the only person taking an interest in my project ;)
Aww don't worry about the issue of being a slow project, it all about money and time these days, you need both for a project :) Mine is slow, when I start Henrietta's bodywork and spraying, it'll be even slower

Yeah, was sooo relieved to find it was just the float chamber! Carbs are so expensive :) But tape! TAPE!

Yeah, dad's got a Mini 1000 Automatic :D It's currently pink, without a drivers door, steel wheels, pretty standard to be honest...Here we go

Shell's in pretty good nick, engine runs well, although Dad's going to swap it for a 998 manual with a stage one  He plans to spray it black and orange  Oh and he's called it Fred ;)

Thanks for the linky for the engine hoist :w00t: will investigate them soon! Have been looking around for a freebie or mates rates, my uncle works in the motor business, so he has a lot of contacts...just a waiting game now :D Oh and need filters >_<

Is it bad that i really think your Dad's mini looks good in pink/white  :) One of my minis is a 998 auto and its great fun to drive, you can put your leg over into the passenger side and have heating on both legs :P

I also love that fact your in 3rd by the time you have moved out of the parking space :P

Are you doing all the body prep and spraying yourself? If so i might have to park mine very close so you accidently repair mine as well  I have no patience when it comes to rubbing down panels for hours

 Do you ride it side saddle then?! Besides, only good if your heater actually works <_< Dad hates the auto engine, so he's coverting it to manual, he'll either have a 850cc or my old 998cc when its been stripped down, cleaned and re-built...

I might do some body prep as a learning curve, but I won't be spraying! Unfortunately I'll be paying someone a ridiculous amount to do it for me

P.S Its not a bad thing at all about the pink and white, I HATE pink, and I love it as it is! :w00t:
