Update!!!

Dad was busy without me yesterday whilst I was at work :dontgetit:

He's taken the exhaust off, removed the clutch master, engine steadies and a few other bits from the bay....You can now put your hands ontop of the rocker cover and rock the entire engine! :o

Now we do just need a hoist to lift the bulk of the engine for cleaning and painting >_<

P.S Appologies for the lack of pictures, unfortunately my dad didn't think to take the camera to the garage! Never fear, I will see what I can do later :(

Just a little update :P

Attended southern mini days last weekend, and so bought a couple of bits

2 mesh pancake filters
top end set

Will take photos soon :P

Decided that maybe lifting the shell - seeing as the rust is so light >_< - might be an easier option to get the engine out rather than hunting for a hoist...Still don't have a date set for it yet though...so don't ask! ;)

Hehehehe thanks Scott ^_^ I've taken some photos, will hopefully get them uploaded soon ;)

I am holding my dad to his side of the bargain, he wanted an engine to work with, said I would pay for one, if he took it out, cleaned, painted and refitted :closed: I get my hands dirty when need be I'll have you know

Thanks Chris, Dorothy looks naked now  But Henny will certainly love it

Right, we decided the cheapest and easiest option to take the engine out, would be to lift the shell and slide the engine out from underneath with the front subframe and wheels

So here we go... :w00t:

The engine is twin carb, which have obviously been removed, I've replaced the chamber which had been caught with an angle grinder :P and I plan to clean them up and make them shiney

Will take some photos on the air filters etc soon

Oh and one for Scott - my hands dirty after cleaning Henny's engine bay a couple of months ago :P

Any tips for cleaning? ^_^ Dad said a pressure washer! :o  I reckon a good steam cleaner would do the trick, any suggestions? :ermm:

Pics look good Heather! :P

Yeah a pressure washer should do the job, thats what i used on mine when i took it out. I have also read in Miniworld that some of that Auto Glym engine cleaner is meant to be pretty good.

you rebuilding the engine to standard or modifying it at all?

I bet the AutoGlym stuff is expensive though :D

I've got a steam cleaner to try :D and we have access to the family pressure washer :D

Standard for now  Maybe replace a few hoses here and there, but apart from the twin carb and oil cooler, no kits or anything....

...YET! ;)

Sounds good.. I am looking forward to more pictures ;)

I am not sure how much that stuff costs. I might look into it for the future because it did look pretty good.

Yeah a few new hoses and shiney bits would look nice! :D

Well I'm gonna need some autosol to clean the carbs up ;) Make them all shiney  I got 2 pancake mesh air filters for it, so they're really nice and shiney :) When I can afford some, I'll be buying a pair of K&N cones :D Maybe at Beaulieu next year, their prices were pretty good this year.

I'll be using Henny's rocker cover rather than the one that's already attached, so that'll need some Autosol too :D

Gotta have Henny's engine bay cleaned and sprayed black too :D
