Nothing overly to report again unfortunately
Dad's spent his savings on some new pipes for his Harley Davidson, so has spent his time fitting them, along with his new foward controls etc! So nothing has been done to Dotty's engine yet
Apologies Scott for not so exciting news

Dad has been made redundant and has been working for agency and job hunting, so hence nothing has been done. Unfortunately had problems with Henrietta's 998cc, which has forced me to take action and push my dad to get my engine transplant moving again
Henny's 998cc - head gasket blew a couple of weeks ago, replaced gasket, and new oil filter, only to find the engine still not 100% afterwards. Oli (Oli8925) happened to be staying at mine with Jenny (luvlygal) and came to the conclusion that one of the cam followers had dropped
Dotty's 1275 - currently sat of the work bench in the garage, waiting to had the rocker cover, and head etc stripped off. The plan is to lift the engine onto the floor with a hoist, pressure wash and repaint when dry. Went out and bought a new tin of Hammerite paint on Friday, hammered silver is what I've chosen!
I will take pictures as the engine is moved, cleaned etc and then painted, and we'll go from there

Best of luck with the project and to your dad with the job hunt. Thought of you when the Mini on the Quay date came up again last week. If we don't meet again beforehand, see you at the M2M?
Many thanks Dave
Will you not be attending Castle Combe this year? And the next Quay For My Car is 13th August if you can make it

Yes, will be at the Combe as usual but wary of Poole in August -- that was when Huey was rear-ended en route and I kept you all waiting because I didn't have your phone numberWill you not be attending Castle Combe this year? And the next Quay For My Car is 13th August if you can make it

Ah fair enough
Hope Huey is doing well now? We'll see you at Castle Combe then! Am seriously considering Cara's Dinner when the new engine is done and sorted! Ever been to Powderham Castle?

BRING ON THE PAINT TOMORROW!!

We started painting today...
Block - drying 2nd coat of paint
Waterpump
Radiator and bracket - All on 1 coat of paint
Alternator
Distributor
Because the head is bolted down very tightly, and it wouldn't be safe to try and take the head off either in the hoist on on the floor, we decided not to paint the head at present. We will do a head gasket change within the next fortnight and the head will be painted at the same time.
Here we go...
1 Coat of Paint to the Block...Can still see a little bit of the red paint, so 2nd coat went on later this afternoon.

We also stripped the 998, all that's left is the engine steady and lower bracket, and the bolt to the clutch cylinder. Look so naked

On another note, I rooted out my brand new pancake filters which I bought 2 years ago....still pretty and shiny!

Last Sunday, the engine went in....

Over the past week, my dad started to add in the other components...Over the weekend, we attached the single inch and half carb from the 998cc, as we believe there were a few bits missing from the twin carb bank, adjuster screws etc. From Sunday we attempted to get the engine to fire...Turns out the cooler pipes weren't too good, so decided to ditch it for now. Had to rewire the solenoid, and remove the oil gauge adaptor, amongst a few things. The engine fired at 11pm last night! After putting the dashboard back together, my dad went to re-attach the bonnet, and found that the standard air filter we had fitted was preventing the bonnet from closing! I therefore decided to go out to one of my local mini specialists and treat my new engine to a K&N Cone filter. Sounds excellent! However, haven't been for a test drive yet, as having a few problems with the clutch, getting 1st and 2nd gear with difficulty, but no 3rd or 4th....Possibly in for a new master cylinder
Will update tomorrow and enclose a new picture of how the engine is currently looking

Right, we sorted the clutch, turns out the lower bolt of the master cylinder hadn't been done up tight enough, therefore it was leaking, however, we also had to wind the arm in a bit further. Clutch and gears seem dandy atm!
We sorted the K&N, went out for my first drive and found very little in the way of power and pick up, so when we got home, we tuned the carb over and over with lots of test drives, and it made no difference. I managed to source another set of twin inch and 1/4 carbs, which had everything attached, so my dad is in the process of stripping them down, cleaning and then eventually rebuilding them.
In the mean time, we are in the process of fitting a single inch and 3/4 carb. Have been advised that because of the mods to the engine, particularly the cam, that the inch and half carb might not be big enough, so decided to try and inch and 3/4 for trial and error. Which now means going out for another K&N cone!
Updates to follow....!

Are you going to the quay on Friday? Or depends if Henny is working I suppose.
