You sure u've got the right head for ur engine? 11 studs block is a 1275, 9 studs heads are usually 998cc heads, so will be a bit restrictive for ur engine.

its only the 's' engines that have 11 studs. std 1275's have 9, same as 998's

should be fine. or you could have the new dead drilled for 11 stud fitment too.

morris/austin 1300gts also had 11 stud fitment.along with the cooper s

all other 1275 a series(or a plus) should be 9 stud standart.

I think engine may have been from Austin/morris 1300gt as the timing chain backplate is a different shape and sticks out the back which i have been told may have been for another engine mount/steady?

Yep I'd say your right. My engine came out of a Riley Kestrel which had a timing backplate with a mount attached to it. As far as I know only 1300GT and S heads are 11 stud. All other 1275 heads are 9 Stud eg. 12G940

The head is a 12g940 so will have had the extra bolts drilled. Unfortunately the head is passing water through where the valve springs sit. It is a real shame as seems to have had some serious work done to it recently. It has been skimmed and ported, the valve stems have been turned down etc. etc. It will be a shame to scrap it really.

Almost all 11 stud heads are 12G940 too... Exept of some early FJ/Cooper S heads... Innocenti Minis had 11 studs too.

Oh right so this may have originally been 11 stud. Anyone know if this head could be repaired or is it not worth it? regards Steve
