Im going to put a pair of 10cm speakers in my dash, i've got 10cm fli speakers in my doors but there just not enough front fill.

A friend of mine had FLI ones in his polo and then replaced them with alpine ones which he said he prefered.

On a fairly low budget maximum of around 40-50 quid, what would people recomend for 10cm speakers, I thought my FLI ones were pretty good but have been told that there are much better ones available. These will be mounted in the dash behind the air vents and powered from my jvc head unit, not an amp.

I don't want bias opinions just because you have a set, real opinions on these please.

Ben

Halfords usually have sets of 10cm speakers set out to try, just go and see what sounds the best, but bear in mind, they're in a proper enclosure.

Good idea but my local halfords doesn't have this, it's just a small shop.

I have a set of Hertz Components and coaxials in mine, (granted they were a bit more pricey, but they're spot on, i dare say that the 10cm versions will be pretty good...

I'll consider them, they've got 5 watts rms more than most 10cm speakers, anyone else got ideas?

Go to halfords and try the 10cm alpine speakers or sony. You will be pleasantly surprised they are very good for small speakers

scrap the 10's get some 15's.

doubling the speakers wont make it 'twice as loud' up front.

it wont increase bass response. it wont do much at all really....

granted, this is a bit of a cop out response but check this lot:

http://www.caraudiod...-24_25_276.html

The Alpines and Pioneers come in pretty close to your budget, however, if you look around at the site a bit more, SPL Dynamics even do a 10cm Component Set at around this price :D (cant vouch for their quality mind, never used them!)

Ok firstly how many people ca fit 15cm speakers in their dash? I want them because thei'll pop right in.
It definatly won't make it doubly as loud as I have an amp running the rear set up of up of my system, Never did I mention I wanted it doubly as loud. I wanted more front fill to try balance the system, Never did I say I wanted more bass response 10cm will never give more bass response and never did I say it would.

And it will do quite a bit as in the dash the speakers are pointed at you for the best position realy in a Mini.
And as for your first point, I am running my FLI speakers off my head unit, the second set of 10cm speakers would also be run of the head unit off the rear channels, so will get the other side of the built in amp of the head unit so another set of speakers, another channel on the amp, pretty much doubling the volume in the front of the car.

If you don't have anything relevant or correct to post please don't.

I think i've decided upon a set of infinity 10cm coaxials as listening to a friends set and the quality of my 6x9s they seems to be very good, thanks for everyones input.
