Hi there

I just have a few questions to clear my mind before I start spraying tomorrow:

1. When I order all the paints, thinners, etc, I have noticed I have got two types of hardeners;

Omi-cron 2-1 fast activator (2.5ltrs)
Omi-cron 2-1 express activator (500ml)
and
Omi-cron 2 component Acrylic clearcoat (5ltrs)

But I am unsure of what ratio to mix with the lacquers? I know that these two hardeners are 2:1 with each other, but what is the ratio with the lacquers?

2. How long do I wait before I can spray the lacquer on the paint? and how long to wait till I can sand the base colour coat?

3. After spraying the base colour do I sand wet 1200grit then spray lacquer, then sand again with 1200grit and polish?

4. Just to make sure, as I am reading lots of different stuff and gettin confused, the base coat is just 50-50 with thinners isnt it? no hardener is mixed with the basecoat? sorry about this I have read to much on the net, bit confuzzeled.

If anyone could just clear these points out for that would be great, as I have read the guide a number of times, but just need a simple answer.

Before you apply the lacquer, the basecoat just needs to flash off (the point where its just dried off) usually about 15-30 mins, less if its a warm day, then on with the clear.

If its a metallic/pearl basecoat you need to spray the basecoat wait for it to flash off then straight on with the lacquer. Once youve applyed the lacquer and its fully hardened then use 1200 grit paper used wet to knock any orange peal/imperfections back then follow up with 1500 grit used wet then compound. Whatever you do don't sand the metallic basecoat before its lacquerd as this creates all sorts of problems with the final outcome of the paint.

Yes no hardner is added to the basecoat just the basecoat thinners

The Fast and express hardners you have there just refer to how long the paint takes to cure. If its a fast activator itll take less time to harden than say a standard activator. You only use one of the activators you have. IIRC its normally 2 parts paint and 1 part activator and 10% thinner

So I do use a activator in the paint? not just in the clear coat?

No the activator is just to be used in the clear, so you have 2 parts clear and 1 part activator and 10% thinner, sorry when i said paint i was refering to the clear not the basecoat

Omi-cron are something to do with Jawel paints I believe? ordered a load of Jawel stuff and some of it was branded Omi-cron.
This page links to all their tech datasheets...
http://www.jawel.co.uk/tech_data.htm
Specifically, the section marked jawel brand 2k near the bottom on the left column. t lists mixing ratios, spray pressures etc for all the products.
