whats the best way to change the fuel filter?

A shop sold me the wrong one last week so it wouldnt fit, but petrol didnt stop coming through the pipe whilst i was trying to change it.

What do people use to block the pipe??

Cheers

Just use a hose clamp to stop the petrol leak while the filter is off the car

The tank is supposed to be as near empty as possible before starting this project. If you disconnect the return line in the engine bay, place it in a container and turn the pump on it should dump what is left in the tank out the return line to your container, the rest will just have to run out when you disconnect the fittings. I captured all that ran out of the filter fittings in a large container.

Yeah, use a hose clamp or a pair of mole grips to clamp the flexi pipe. If you use moles then you MUST protect the pipe with cardboard or plenty of cloth or something.
