Do you think my mini is likely to get clamped if its parked in the bottom car park overnight this saturday? or is it possible to leave crystal palace park in the morning?

I am on the official run but our club always starts from the side road so we make it to madiera drive in good time to enjoy the day.

I'd just park it in the official car park. If you're going to be there on the Saturday, then you can join the queue when it starts forming on the Saturday night. Then you should still get to Brighton quickly. It's only if you arrive on the Sunday morning that you'll be near the back of the queue, and spend all day driving to Brighton.

I doubt very much that it'll get clamped overnight, I have left cars there all day and overnight before (for l2b and on 'normal' days), but if you're worried there's plenty of unrestricted parking available in local streets

Oh, is that true?
Hmm... due to babysitter's letting us down, I might have to arrive on Sunday morning with my older kids in the car. (5 and 3)
This won't be good for them to sit and queue for hours. =]
Any tips?

How does the queuing work then? I thought it was early Sunday morning that people started lining up, not Saturday night!

Last year I left early but on arrival at Marina Drive was marshalled right down the opposite end, despite loads of parking spaces which were filled up a good hour or two later! We were about as far away as you could possibly get; almost in Hastings!

i think marshalling is random as they just wave there arms left-right depending on how they feel. been lucky the last 2 years but the first year was down by the graf wall nearly had to get my hiking boots out.

That happened to us too, bloody gits! We know one of the marshalls this year so hopefully she'll see us and point us down the good end!

It can be. If you're near the back of the queue, then you have 2000 odd Minis blocking up the road ahead of you. Sometimes it's not too bad, but if traffic is generally bad on the day anyway it can take hours to get to Brighton. If you turn up on the Sunday, your best bet is to go to the bottom car park at Crystal Palace. Walk into the park to pick up your plaque / t shirt, then go back to your car and drive out as soon as you want.

How does the queuing work then? I thought it was early Sunday morning that people started lining up, not Saturday night!

No people do start putting their cars in the queue on the Saturday night. It means you can have a lie in on the Sunday without having to worry about getting a good place in the queue.

The rules say that you shouldn't queue up the night before as everyone's gunna be marshalled into the queue in the morning anyway.
I would think that seeing as we're going for the world record all will be well organised and should get "released" in good time.
Personally, I think that the whole parking on the saturday night is a bit like when you go on holiday and find people (usually of a certain nationality) already have their towels on the sun loungers!!
Although I can understand why people do it if they have small kids and don't want to be waiting around for hours in the morning.

Aren't we going to be coming out of CP Park a different route this year as well? If you try to queue early you might end up facing the wrong way! :D
