As a few of you may know i have been restoring and deseaming a 1971 clubman saloon, the shell was ready for a metro turbo motor which i have with a 5 speed KAD box and carbon puushrods etc, would have been looking at putting a reliable 120bhp throug it daily with the box and pushrods there as a little exotica! However the bits for my KAD box were going to cost me £185 and the rest of the engine build was going to be about £200 for the standard spec. However me and my mate ripped a D16 1600cc 16v motor from a CRX with box, ecu, loom shafts, hubs, brakes etc etc not too long ago and we got it for a song. As we were prepping his civic for the transplant we noticed some rust bubbles that turned out to be entire rotten panels and the car is as good as scrap so i bought the D16 off him and once i have it at mine ill be fabbing up a subframe and throwing it into the clubby with megasquirt and throttlebodies from a GSXR 600 (which are sat on my bench at the moment begging to be used.). So once i get the D16 to mine ill post up some pictures and also some for sale posts of my KAD gearkit and metro turbo parts.

Does anyone have any pictures of any D16 conversions?

I have been over on 16vminiclub and there is some useful info on there, the mounting of the engine etc will not be an issue and as fas as i am concerned. The main issue i have is, i want to stick with my 6x10" Cosmics to keep the car looking standard with the D16 conversion, i had metro turbo 4 pots on my last turbo mini and they were very good. However i am aware they will not fit under my Cosmics and i will need an alternative. The fiesta calipers are an option but with the planned 170+ BHP i dont think they will cut the mustard as there are people reporting they fade with hard driving with much over 110bhp. I cannot afford the KAD brakes as i am on a tight budget so that from what i can find leaves the Mini Sport calipers which i know nothing about and i am not 100% sure they will fit under my 10's. I have thought about getting a set of 4 or 6 pot motorbike calipers, and spacing them out to fit the vented metro turbo disc once its been turned down to 7.9" but i am well aware of the possibilities of brake caliper flex if i space them out. Does anyone have any other ideas what i can do with my brakes?

The subframe has now been cut to allow me to place the motor in situ, but before i can do anything else i am making a jig for the standard mini frame so i am guarenteed to keep the geometry standard. I have the motor in my garage and i now have a homemade engine crane too so all is going swimmingly, pictures will follow once i have some steel, as the current pictures just show a very sorry looking mini lol.
