Hi,
I am in the process of changing my old wide groove valves for rimflow vales with the single groove. do i need to fit any valve spring shims as the head is a 12g295 cooper head, and if i do how do I kow what thickness shims to use?
Any help would be appreciated as i have read loads of articles and my head is spinning!(mine not the cylinder head!)

Have you got the rimflow valves yet? If this is for a road car, forget them it's hardly worth the huge cost - just buy new standard and have them worked. If you buy new springs they will have an installed compression height recommended with them (if from minispares) the actual height depends on how recessed your valves are in the head. You'll need to measure and shim to suit.
