There are loads of different fillers on the market, just make sure you use one that is suitable for bare metal work. Mix it up roughly a golf ball to a pea size of hardener. Don't put too much hardener in otherwise it will go off before you can get it on the body. Try to get it on as smooth & to the shape required, it does take practise but will save on hours of sanding down. ( I use Upol easy sand).

-To add to the above - try and build the filler up in thinner layers - you'll get a much more consistent surface to work with that way and a finer finish (air bubbles can occur in larger applications) and also speeds up the dry time meaning you can get more on quicker!

i have just done mine i used fibreglass filler first to get the rough contour starting at the bottom of the panel and working round towards the boot then when it was dry i used a long board and 80's sand paper to sand the rough shape working from side to side then i used pp100 or some other fine filler to smooth the surface

hope this helps

You have to flat filler with some sort of block behind the sand paper as your hands are not flat and your hands will follow the shape of the rough filler and you won't get a good even finish.

Yep for a valance I'd use a block, work down the valance at 45 degrees, keeping it random and rub the whole lot down at one time, don't try and get one end spot on before the rest, work at the whole thing slowly. Start with 80 grit, and finish in 180, followed by 240 if you haven't got high build primer. The best filler is Upol Fantastic, but it's not too cheap. Upol easy1 is a good alternative, the downside of it being that you usually get pinholes and so need to apply a stopper afterwards.
