Hi,

As i'm rebuilding my 1961 morris mini, i'm looking to keep it as original as possible, however, I want to add a few period mods to the car.

So far, i've drawn inspiration from the Mod scooter scene, with mirrors and lights all over - think that this might be an option.

I was wondering however, has anyone taken on a similar approach? What have other people done!
Looking for examples of 60's styled minis, subtle or flash, new or old, show us what you've done!

A Mk1 doesn't deserve any other 'mods', does it? :)

Great find! Where can I get those bits and pieces. Already planning to get a roof rack, found a company that does the four wheel ones
Found a few lambretta and vespa places that do those diddy lights, i'm presuming they could be persuaded to work on a mini?
as for the wing mounted mirrors - already got them, they were on the car when I bought it and are the original ones :)
So, just need to find me one of those windscreen peaks - they look ace!

Yeah, saw the car, very nice, but not quite what i'm thinking, i'm going for a more subtle look. If there's going to be any targets they'll be fairly small and stitched onto the seats (not the original seats though - got another little plan for this bit)

Thanks for the replies folks, much appreciated - would love to see more pics, especially those similar to the one's asphalt has posted

hey i like your idea of all the lights and the mirrors.
I've thought about it but never followed it up.
My dads got a vespa with white wall tyres and all the lights and mirrors on it and it looks mint.
Would be interested to see what you come up with

What wheels has it got?

Could paint the hub-caps in the MOD style image.

Cheers for your enthusiasm, was sort of testing the water with this one as one thing I am conciouss of is upsetting the "purists" - still, i'm keeping another one of the little cars on the road so that's got to be worth something ;)

Got to get the car rebuilt first, just toying around with some ideas. (Watch this space!)

You mean the RAF Roundel? Had thought about that, not sure though... going back to what has been said before, I am slightly tempted by the "whitewall" look - think that could be a winner. I'm going to have a play around on photoshop before I commit to this, just so I can get a rough idea what i'm going to end up with.

Windscreen peaks, no idea where to get them... answers on a postcard please! :P

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated!
(p.s. I know this is a mini forum, but could you - dmdangermouse - post some pics of the vespa up? need to see this! )

Anyone else got any pics?
i'll be starting the project soon, so remember check back in 10 weeks - that's the deadline - It will be done!

Would love to see any retro 60's minis you guys have done.

Maybe you can find something classy, maybe something utterly outrageous - whatever it is, wide, low or retro, i'm dying to see what others have come up with

Try to keep it 60's-ish

Cheers,

Matt
