I have just replaced the top engine steady bracket and bushes on my '97 MPI, having carried out head gasket change.

When i tried to put the bolt into the side of the engine block, i found that the hole was 3-4mm out of position. To rectify it i had to pull the engine towards the grill, to get it to line up and go in. It took several attempts to lever the engine forward and get the thread to bite and eventually go in.

With the force i had to use, what possible effects will this have on the engine and driveability?

Still have a little work to do before starting engine and driving my mini.

99.9% of the time you have to lever the engine forward a bit to get the bolt in. I've had to do it loads of times but have never suffered any adverse effects
from doing it.

They are usually slightly out, good like this as it makes the engine more steardy.
