Right well been trying to do something to get the speakers in. I can't work out how im going to fit my speakers to the speaker board. For some stupid reason the holes on the speakers are bigger then the heads of the screws alpine supply. Which is if you just want to hold the speaker down but won't work if you want to screw it on from the underside like I do. I had planed to use some washers but again the holes are 2 big. I'll try and get some pictures that show what I mean.

Right well I got my parcel shelf speakers in. Had to buy some new screws and that was it. It got to dark to take any pictures but till take some 2moz if I remember. Hoping I should have some time after college 2moz to do the under seat ones. Then I just need to put all the wires under the carpet to the dash. And then fit a head unit. Although Im not sure how I do that. Then I should finally have a sound system back in the car.

Right another small update. Been thinking about the interior. I'm not gonna get those buckets any more as I think they would ruin the classic look. So what I'm now thinking is all black cobra classics. Also been looking on mini sport and as they have their sale after xmas i'v been planning on what im gonna spend some of my xmas money on. Thinking of getting this carpet.

In black

Also after seeing these in a cooper the other day I think I'll get some of these as well.
http://www.minisport..._NCMTK3041.html
again in black.

I'm also looking at getting a new headlining kit from them in black as well but we shall see.

Im gonna be getting a dash on sunday from the mini show.

I'm also gonna be collecting my new engine after xmas so will start rebuilding that ready to go on for march. Then april my insurance will have to be renewed which is gonna be around the £1600 mark. Which means I wont be buying anything for a while after that. >_<

Then I'm just gonna injoy the mini for the year and then get the front end replaced at the end of next years show season.

£1600? Fully comp? Who with?

Mine is going to be £700 tpft, with Footman James, brand new driver, modified (different engine to original. Thought they'd double it!) - try them?

Shop around alot, if you get a lower quote elsewhere your company might match it too... Save the paperwork.

Matt

That seems very cheap. Is that as a learner though? Im gonna phone round but I'm just going buy what I paid this year so that gives me a rough idea of what it will be.

Nope. That's after i've passed. Lowest risk post code area IIRC though.

Yours should drop quite a bit i'd imagine. Phone around :(

Speaker board looks good by the way! I have an MDF board under my parcel shelf part of the body?! God knows how it's held there. Speakers just stick through the holes in the parcel shelf metal, and are covered by a piece of felt... Will probably rip it out oneday, put it in the top, after covering it with speaker cloth. Think felt mat really can't be the best for the sound quality!

O right well I will have a phone round. If your gonna do the speakers look in to these stealth ones. They keep a classic look to the car and also hides away your speakers from scum. Their top quality as well.

Yeah I probably will, but i'm tempted to use the bit of board that is there now, and just staple some thick black speaker cloth over it tightly, but put it on on top of the shelf instead of underneath.

I was thinking of getting the same boards as you mate
Does your parcel shelf one fit right because it says on the website that they are for MK5 1990 onwards cars with the added bars in the pillars so they wont fit properly in other models?

Well I have a slight gap at the end but they dont move round or anything like that. I was gonna put a but of black material down just to hide it a bit more. Anyway I have founf the little gaps on the end are a perfect place to put a rubber duck. I'll get some pictures when I next get a chance to show you what I mean.

How much space do you reckon you have each side , a few mm maybe?
Maybe I could ask him to do them longer than normal
