That rear shelf looks made to fit a late model rover, there are extra bits of metal on them either side. Hence the gap with the older style shelf.

You are correct. They are made for the later minis. When i'v put a bit of black material down you wont even notice the gaps.

Well with all the weather I haven't really had much chance to do much work but today I got my Mk1 bonnet primed.

Posted Image

Its not the best job but it should stop the surface rust from forming again. When the weather gets better I'll do it again.

Again this isn't a huge update. I found some Cinnabar red spray paint the other day so have bought a can and this morning I went out and sprayed a corner of my bonnet.

Posted Image

When it's dried I'm gonna take it outside and see how close it is to the colour of my car.

I also found my old mini badge that was on the back of my car when I bought it. As you can see from the first picture it was in a pretty bad state. I tried painting it with model paint but it didn't stick to it so I sanded in back a bit and primed it. When the primers dried I'll have another go at painting it.

Thats it for now. Gonna open my prezzies in a min so I'm hoping for some money so I can go get some parts in the Mini Sport sale. Yay.

Thanks and Merry Xmas.

Right well I went back out their no the paint had dried. The paint is an OK match. Its only had one layer and its still quite dull. With a few more layers I think it will start to look a bit better.

Sorry about the crap iPhone picture.

What is it?
One of those brake lights?
Surely to wire it in would be ignition live , the brake light and earth?
EDIT: MIGHT ALSO NEED A FUSE?

Yea its a brake light. I was gonna wire it down to one of my brake lights and some hoe tap it in to those electrics. That should be the easiest way to do it.

looking good,i like the progress, however using a rattle can in these temperatures is not good, rattle can paint must be ideally applied with humidity at 50% or below and an average temperature of 70 fahrenheit ( 22 celsius ) for optimum results, and im guessing as the bonnet is in a prime location you would want the best paint job, having said that ive sprayed small areas outdoors in the cold many years ago and pulled it off!
I like the brake light,im sure if you ask roo she can give you a rough procedure for fitment

Cheers. Im gonna re-spray the bonnet again anyway. I only did it as I found the shop near me sold cinnabar red paint so I bought some to see who good the match was. It's not bad and will last until I get the car re-sprayed. I'll have a talk with Roo at the next meet.

Thanks.

Just wire it straight into the brake light feed on one of the rear lights (drivers side seems like a good idea if you have the fuel tank in place)

Or if you can wait a few weeks ill show you mine. failing that come round and ill do it for ya :) :)

How close is the fit of the speaker board in the edge that goes over the tunnel?

HAHA theirs no snow inside no.

Cheers burny i'll hold you to that. I'll wait untill I have got the mk2 tail lights first though.

Also been looking through all my mini bits I took of a mini at the scrap heap. In their I found some orange front indercatror covers so they will be going on as I don't want the clear ones anymore. Im also getting rid of my angel eyes and want some more standard looking ones so I may get the same ones you've got chris. I'v also started ordering some of the new parts I need that should be here early next year.

Thanks.
