Right well I'v stupidly forgot to take any pictures again. But today I cleaned the car for the first time in ages. In fact the last time I cleaned the car was before the IMM last year ;D .

O also put the plastic door handles on and fitted the headunit under the dash rail on the passenger side so its a little more hidden. I still haven't found out why my batteries going flat though. I had a look and the battery wire and that looks fine. The battery was new not so long ago so that SHOULD be fine. The battery earth is fine so I'm guessing that the alternator has gone bang. Rustys coming round with a voltmeter later to help me test that.

If that not the problem as anyone else got any ideas on what it could be?

;) You haven't washed it since IMM!!!?? :P
I have to hoover, wash and polish mine every weekend! lol
I have just been reading the last few pages, looks like a nice little project you have. I just saw that you have some new handles, if I had have known that you wanted these you could have had mine for nothing as I have some alloy ones on now :o

I still haven't washed it to be honest. I just went over it with a went cloth. The chrome now looks like chrome again now. I don't really see much point washing it. The paint job on her is naff and the dirt does a good job in hiding the rust.

All going well I should pick up my fiberglass bonnet on monday if minispeed have one in stock. The its just a grill and bumpers and I'll have everything I need for the front.

Right well heres the pictures of my new handles and my new headunit holder thingy.

I'v been looking though all the bits I won on ebay (still haven't got pictures of them) and in their was a left hand side mk2 light unit with a perfect lens and also just a right hand lens also in mint condition they are just a bit dirty. So I'll be using those lens on the set of lights I bought the other day as those lenses have small cracks in.

I also got this in the lot of stuff off ebay which I was thinking of using as a reverse light.

I also got 2 pairs for of side indicators. I guess they will fit a mini as well as aload of other cars. As my car doesn't need side indicators I don't need these so I'm selling them for £2 a pair if anyones interested.

Thats about it for now.

Cheers
Jon

The whole cars getting repainted sometime this year so its not to much of a problem. The paint job on the car is crap anyway so it wont bother me to much.

Thanks though.

Right well today I cleaned some of the gunk of the engine using a screw driver as well as loosing some of the stuck bolts so I can now carry on with taking the engine to bits. I also cleaned one of the mk2 tail light lenses. I'll try and do the other one before work 2moz.

Then monday its off to mini speed for my bonnet (as long as its in stock)

Which means she can then go off to have her face lift to get rid of the rust and bent panels.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!

Yay. Right well I'v had a good day today. Went over to minispeed and picked up my fiberglass bonnet. After that me and my mate decided to go down to Mercedes world thats just round the corner. What a place. Spent a while walking around looking at all these expensive cars and it also gave me a few ideas for gadgets to fit on the mini. The best bit was that its all free to go in.

The bonnet.

After that I went down to a scrap yard near Reading to have a look at a sprite that been traded in under scrappage. The guy wants £100 for the doors, bonnet and boot. Got some pictures and they all look pretty dam good with pretty much no rust on any of them.

Hmm, I wouldnt look at it from that view IMO. No point buying twice, buy once, buy proper

Do they have any rust along the bottom lip?

Not that I could see. Infact I couldn't see any rust on the door boot or bonnet. The only thing I saw was some of the paint has chipped off on the drivers side from where someone opened the door on to something but then I think most doors are gonna have little chips on them like that.

The shut lines on the mini it was on were also pretty much perfect. Weather or not they would be that good once fitted to another mini is another thing though.

I had a rough price of £70 to fix both of my doors. Thats a small bit of welding on the window from on both sides then also buying 2 new door skins then I would need to fit them my self. As for £30 more I get a boot and bonnet and also don't have to faff around with putting the new door skins on.

Cheers I just need to see if I can get them first. I bought my dad a creme egg to butter him up abit before I ask him to lend me £100. That could be the most expensive egg he ever eats.
