hope that 1994/5 sprite had some rusty panels to warrant scrapping it..... :D

Nope. It was pretty much concourse. Don't see that many minis around that are that original.

Right well as I don't get paid for another 2 weeks I couldn't get the money together for the doors which is a shame. But someone from BMC has got them to go on his clubby he's restoring ready for L2B.

Right well tonight I striped some more of the engine off. Took off some of the pipes that had been cut from where the engine was taking off. I also took something off the back although I dunno what it was lol. I think it was something to do with fuel line as its stunk of petrol when I took it off. I also stated to remove the radiator although got a bit stick as I couldn't get a spanner on one of the bolts cause of where the rad hose joins so I'm not really sure what to do about that. I'v cleaned some more the gunk off the block as well so quite a productive night. Roll on saturday which I have off so I can do some more work.

Right well the rads off. I'v got a few pictures of how the engine is. It don't look really any different considering the amount of time I'm spent on it lol. Although all the odd hoses that were on it when I got it have been taken off as well as the fuel pump, spark plugs, gear linkage and a few other bits that I don't know the name of lol. I'v also cleaned some of the oily gunk off the block. The next step is to get the head off which I'm gonna try and do Monday.

Right well took the oil filter off the enigne today. Me being a dumbass forgot their would be oil in it. :( So I made a bit off a mess.

Posted Image

I also tried taking off the thing the oil filter hangs on although I cant undo one of the bolts. I'll give it a spray with some wd40 and try again.

I's also been scraping back more of the gunk. I'm back to the metel now on most of one side. As you can see its pretty rusty although that don't really matter and the blocks gonna be repainted anyway.

Posted Image

When the weather starts to get better I'll pressure wash the rest off it off.

I also didn't realize how bad my floors where. Their gonna need replacing soon ish.

My plan is do the front and doors and get the car repainted. Then do the floors at a later date.

Thats about it for now.

Thanks.

to be honest I'm still wondering if I should use the engine. I'v been told by so many people that the engine thats in the car now will be so much better. Its a 998 with a 1275 head and a stage 1 kit. All the work was done by Slarks yet they seem to have done a crap job. The it over fuels and it has a horrid miss fire. Thing is that it cost me over £600 for all the work and its still screwed so I got fed up of spending money on it and decided to get a new engine and put a new stage 3 head on it. I may just take my old engine out put a new carb on it paint it up and put all new ht leads, spark plugs, dizzy cap. ect and see if that does it. Thing is if it don't sort it then I'v just wasted more money on it that I could have spent on a new engine.

That amount of money thats been spent on this 998 and I could have got a pretty good 1275 from smart performance.

If i was you and that engine was solid, i would just do a quick rebuild on it, put a weber 40 on it, decent cam sw5 maybe, lightened fly and uprated clutch and leave it then, it would give you a nice spec and wouldn't cost you that much, i couldn't do that to mine as its done about 85k and needs a proper rebuild before any major performance upgrades, thats why i want another engine.

Thats a good point I suppose. Thing is that its gonna have a swift engine put in it in a few year when I can insure it. So I'm not to fussed about having a done up 998. Its only being used to go to college and work and back. I don't really go on motorways that often.

I just want a 998 that don't use £40 a week in fuel. I do about 25 miles a day 7 days a week and as far as I can tell £40 is a stupid amount of money to be spending on fuel.
