im new to this forum... i bought a mk1 mini as a project shell a few months ago.. being from the states and now being in new zealand i just had to get a mini cause i have barely seen ahandfull of them growing up and just fell in love... but being a typical american i want more power!! and i want to upgrade to a more reliable engine that doesnt need mods to go fast? i have thought of the toyota starlet motor the vaxhaull job and a few other motors. what i really want to know is which motor is best in the mini? what is involved do i have to stretch the front clip? if at all possible i would like to keep the body cutting to a minimum, i understand the inner fenders have to be removed and a new subframe has to be built.. but i cant find any one who has actually done the job or found any one that can tell me what problems they ran into? now i know the purest still love push rods and lucas electrical.... im sorry i do have a spare 1100 and 850 motor that you can have if you help me get sorted!! thanks for all the help !!!1
