Hey guys...

whilst ive been into minis for some time.. ive only ever bought them complete..

what would be involved in making just a bare shell... moveable? doesnt need an engine.. i just need to make it lockable and on wheels so it can be pushed around. I plan to do another project starting from scratch which is a massive project on a personal level.

But the area ive since moved to.. isnt the best of areas and ill be using a car park which has had a bad history in the past.

Any ideas?

Couple planks of wood and some castors! I'd probably try and chain it to something too :S

As above, I put four casters on a pallet then lifted a shell on top. Easy to move in all directions.

Or put two subframes on it, and the hubs, etc. Then use a wheel clamp to keep it put.

If you are doing it on its wheels, at the back you will need subframe and mounts, radius arms complete with hub, rubber conesand struts and you will need the brake drum on too.

At the front, you need subframe and mounts, upper and lower arms plus tie bar rubber cones and struts, hub complete with bearings, brake disc with drive flange and you will need to fit at least the outer end of a driveshaft to hold the bearings and hub together. You will also really need a steering rack.

Frankly, this is not an ideal setup for a project. Chances are its going to need welding, and chances are its going to need the rear subframe off to do this...you cant epect to get it all dismantled, welded and rebuilt within a day.
A shell on a pallet is just going to attract the pikeys - there is no reasonable way tosecure it agaisnt theft.
Can you not rent a garage nearby?
